Password for WiFi set up on printer

The suggestion is this below but it doesn't work or give me a password?!!  How do I find the password please?

The default password is 12345678. - doesn't work!

If that does not work, Press and hold the resume button(down arrow) for about 10 seconds until the power LED blinks slowly, and release.

It will print a configuration report with wifi direct password. - doesn't give password

Wi-Fi Direct is a particular type of "no router" connection that uses your printer's own wireless radio to connect to your Wireless enabled supported device (computer, tablet, phone).  

Wi-Fi Direct does not connect your printer to the Internet -- Wi-Fi Direct cannot be used with HP services ( for example, HP+ / Smart Advance, Instant Ink, Cloud services).

If the instructions are correct, perhaps you do not have Wi-Fi Direct enabled.

If you are intentionally trying to use Wi-Fi Direct and it is not behaving as expected, perhaps try switching the Wi-Fi Direct Service OFF -- Wait for a minute -- Toggle / Switch Wi-Fi Direct to ON

If you are seeking the PIN number associated (assigned to) the printer, check inside the ink supply door or on the back or side of the printer.
