Hi @Sri290564,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M126nw printer is asking for a password, it could be due to several reasons, especially if you're trying to connect via wireless or accessing certain features. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue.

Default Password

If this is a new printer or if you haven't set a password, try using the default password. For most HP printers, the default password is often:

  • "12345678"
  • "admin"

Accessing the Printer’s Web Interface

Connect to the Printer’s IP Address:

  • Find the printer’s IP address by printing a configuration page from the printer’s control panel (you can usually find this option in the menu under "Reports" or "Network Configuration").
  • Enter the IP address into a web browser.

Login:

  • If prompted for a username and password, try the default credentials mentioned above or leave them blank if you haven't set anything.

Reset the Password

If you’ve changed the password previously and forgot it, you may need to reset the printer to its factory settings. Here’s how:

  • Reset the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Disconnect the power cord and wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
    • This might reset the network settings and password.

Update Firmware

Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve connectivity issues. You can do this via the HP website or through the printer’s web interface.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
