HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Old computer crashed. Got a new laptop. Printer can't connect. Says it wants a pin. I never had a pin before. I tried looking in all the places it suggests it might be but nothing is there or the numbers are too long. Suggestions?

@Ray0719, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Connecting Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 Printer to a New Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your new laptop is asking for a PIN to connect to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer, it is likely a request for the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) PIN. Here are some steps to help you connect your printer to your new laptop:

Find the WPS PIN on Your Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup (usually represented by a gear icon).
  • Navigate to Network Setup or Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
  • During setup, you should see an option for WPS PIN. Select this option, the printer will display a PIN to enter into your laptop.

Enter the PIN on Your Laptop:

  • On your laptop, when prompted, enter the PIN displayed on the printer’s screen.

Alternative Method - Push Button Setup:

  • If the WPS PIN method does not work or is unavailable, you can try the Push Button Setup method:
    • On your printer, go to Setup -> Network -> Wi-Fi Protected Setup -> Push Button.
    • Press the WPS button on your router (usually a physical button on the router).

Install the Latest Drivers and Software:

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710:
    • Visit the HP Support website.
    • Enter your printer model and download the latest drivers and software compatible with Windows 10 (32-bit).
    • Run the downloaded driver installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • If the previous steps do not work, you may need to reset the network settings on your printer:
    • On the printer’s control panel, select Setup -> Network Setup -> Restore Network Settings.
    • Then reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection as initially done.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
