Printing from my iPad which had the HP Smart app installed is now impossible.  Instead of printing it gets sent to Private Pickup (a Print Anywhere feature).  It seems random people who had the app installed are having this issue.

Nothing on my iPad or Home Network changed.

Facts/Troubleshooting Facts:

• HP Smart app listed the printer having a firmware update at some point.

• When I initially went into the HP SMART app to check settings I found I was logged out and received a error every time I tried to log in - "We couldn't retrieve your account data."

• After reinstalling the app (same version) I was able to log in.

• I toggled "Print Anywhere" and "Private Pickup" Off/On & On/Off.

• I even tried uninstalling the HP Smart App.

• The iOS print dialog lists "Remote Print" if you're quick enough to catch it.

• Everything was restarted for every settings change.

• Can print from Windows 10 and my iPhone (iPhone never had the HP Smart app).

• Print Anywhere settings can't be accessed from my pc.  If I open https://www.hpsmart.com/us/en/ucde/services/print-on-the-go on a PC it wont load.

• HP Support wants me to call their Cloud support.

I'm posting this because it seems like a App changed something OS-Wide on a operating system that you can't fix (iOS).   If this is the case then HP needs to release a update that fixes it.

See picture as it confirms Print Anywhere is disabled and yet jobs are still getting uploaded to HP's servers.  You can see me trying to print hpsmart.com right under the settings toggles.

P.S. Can a Mod change my username to Quad5Ny instead of the random characters it currently is.

Solution for iOS sending print jobs directly to “Private Pickup” or asking for a Username/Password:

1) Disable “Print Anywhere” in app or at hpsmart.com
2) Remove HP Smart App
3) Reset iOS Network Settings and Restart the Printer by unplugging it

You can probably reinstall the HP Smart app afterwards, but I didn’t try/risk it.

The bug is because iOS caches the last used printer.  If you do not have a second printer it will stay there bugged forever.
