Hi @HelpMe1965,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with the print quality or alignment settings on your new HP DeskJet 4175e printer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.

Check Print Settings:

  • Make sure the paper size and type settings in the printer menu match the paper you are using (e.g., letter size, A4, etc.).
  • Ensure that the correct print quality settings are selected. Sometimes, lower quality settings can cause text or lines to appear faint or incomplete.

Inspect Print Cartridges:

  • Check if the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink levels. Low ink levels can affect print quality.
  • If the cartridges were recently installed, they might need alignment. Many printers have a utility to align cartridges, which ensures proper printing.

Clean Print Heads:

  • Use the printer's cleaning function to clean the print heads. This can resolve issues related to ink flow and ensure clear prints.
  • This option is usually found in the printer's maintenance menu or settings.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs related to print quality and performance.

Check for Driver Updates:

  • Make sure your printer drivers are up to date on your computer. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause printing issues.

Test Print:

  • Print a test page to see if the issue persists. This can help identify whether the problem is with a specific document or a general printing issue.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue of missing text lines on your prints.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
