Chrome OS

Hi, my office has a HP MFP M681dh Laserjet network printer.  We have noticed that users using a device running chrome os will randomly not be able to print.  On the chrome device,  the printer shows as available but the icon is gray (offline I suppose).   The interesting thing is that all other windows systems on the network continue to have print functionality, but anything running a chrome os can not.

I've checked the printer logs and do not see any print errors, on the chrome device the item to be printed stays in the queue.  I suspect this has been an issue since we installed the printer a year ago, but we recently added some chromebooks to our network which brought the issue to our attention.   Removing and re-adding the printer on the chrome device does not resolve the issue, not does a reboot of the chromebook.   We have checked print drivers and updated the printer firmware but the issue returns at least once a week.

The 'solution' so far has been to restart the printer, which returns print functionality to all chrome os users and everything works for a few days.  Has anyone else encountered this, or have any thoughts on a resolution?
