Hi everyone, I have an odd problem that I just can't seem to solve. I have an HP Envy 7100 photo series printer which I'm connected to over a Wifi network. When I send jobs to the printer, either through the software I'm using itself (in this case Adobe Acrobat Reader) or through the HP Smart app, the jobs sit in the queue marked as 'stopped'. There is no error showing (though I do briefly see an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle when the job is first sent), but I don't have an option to 'start' the job, just refresh or delete (neither of which help). The printer status is showing in HP smart as ready and it correctly identifies the ink levels (which I tested by replacing the very low black ink cartridge). Even weirder, when I ask to print the status page from HP smart, that is printed out fine. Does anyone recognise the error? I can't figure out where to look. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, updated the drivers, restarted my laptop but nothing seems to help. I'm running MacOS v11.2.3 (Big Sur) on a 2020 MacBook pro with a 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor.
Edit: I found where the error (probably) lies in the error log:
HP_ENVY_Photo_7100_series: File “/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstoappleps” has insecure permissions ([my user ID])
[Job 1] Unable to start filter "pstoappleps" - Undefined error: 0.
[Job 1] Stopping job because the scheduler could not execute a filter.
So I guess it's a permissions error (which I have seen before in other places due to a bad port from my last laptop) but any advice would be appreciated while I try to fix it.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that the print job is stuck in the queue, I am glad to assist you.
I'd recommend you uninstall the existing HP printer software on your computer. Refer to the document HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac) for help.
- Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:
- Update printer firmware
- Update software on Mac
Remove and add the printer
- Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.
- Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.
- Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign , and then delete the printer.
- Click the Plus sign , and then click Add Printer or Scanner.
- Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint
- Click Add to add the printer to the list.
- Try to print.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
