New printer.  Set up last week.  have downloaded HP smart created an account and signed up for instant ink.  Printer is showing off line to computers, but it is connected to the internet.  Now says the printer set up is not complete.  I have been trouble shooting for last 2.5 hours.  Ran scan DR and it said it was fixing.   Now printer screen says cancelling and has been spinning for 20 minutes.  Print DR says it can't continue because the printer is busy.

@LSG69, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

To assist you better, are you using a Win PC or a Mac?

I understand you are not able to use the printer as it is stuck.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.

Restart the wireless router and the computer.

Check the blue wireless light if it is on and steady. Tap on the wireless icon on the printer screen and check the information to see if the printer is connected to your wireless network.

  • Make sure the printer and the computer are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

Now, try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
