@Whizzer
I understand. However, kindly obtain the IP address and go to the EWS page of the printer.
Try printing from there and check if this works.
We are doing this to confirm the connectivity between the printer and the computer.
Follow the steps mentioned in my previous post.
Let me know how it goes.

Upon advise from an IT friend, we tried something more basic. We deleted both printers, disconnected the cable, then added the printer wirelessly using its IP address. Voila! We're printing.
I don't know how the printer got in this state, and I have to believe I tried that approach before. Perhaps I hadn't done all the powering off and re-establishing of the wireless using the wizard.
So I'm going to mark this closed. If it happens again, I may just opt for a new printer particularly as this one just slipped off HP's support list.
Thanks!

One more point: my IT friend thinks having a dual USB-wireless setup isn't the best approach. It's related to the "two printer" situation that I saw. There's one for USB and one for wireless. Since they both go to the same device, confusion is possible.
Yes, one should be able to have a cable to a printer and also a wireless connection. Maybe just not from the same PC. As he said, just do wireless for all. Agree, although my printer setup pre-dates wireless printing. When printer is one foot from the PC, a cable is simple. I had to re-organize my office though for working from home, moving the printer away and requiring wireless.

Resolution: Printer had IP Address of 192.168.1.5 and showed status OFFLINE
I opened the Settings Icon (Windows 11)
Selected Printers & Scanners
Selected Printer Properties
Added a Port with the correct IP address (192.168.1.4) – highlighted below
OFFLINE disappeared from status, and printer immediately printed the test print
which had been stuck in the queue.
