I have a HP Deskjet 3760 printer that I want to connect and the WiFi cannot find my home network. It just keeps printing out instructions that’s not really helpful. I’m using my iPhone and even placing it on top the printer. Can anyone help with this?

Hi @Teegs,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like your HP DeskJet 3760 is in a "stale" network state where it is looking for a previous connection instead of broadcasting its own setup signal. When the printer prints out instructions instead of connecting, it usually means the "Setup Mode" has timed out, preventing your iPhone from seeing the printer's temporary network in the HP Smart app.

  1. Reset the printer to its original Wi-Fi Setup Mode.
    • Ensure the printer is turned on and in a ready state.
    • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel (X) button simultaneously for about five seconds.
    • Release both buttons and wait for the Power light and the blue Wireless light to start blinking.
  2. Prepare your iPhone to detect the printer signal.
    • Open the Settings menu on your iPhone and go to Bluetooth, ensuring it is toggled to On.
    • Go back to Settings, select Wi-Fi, and make sure you are connected to your 2.4GHz home network (HP DeskJets often struggle with 5GHz-only bands).
    • Close the HP Smart app completely by swiping it up from your app switcher to ensure a fresh search.
  3. Complete the connection using the HP Smart app.
    • Open the HP Smart app and tap the Add Printer button or the plus (+) sign.
    • Select your HP DeskJet 3700 series printer when it appears on the screen (the app uses Bluetooth to "find" the printer in setup mode).
    • Enter your home Wi-Fi password when prompted and wait for the blue Wireless light on the printer to turn solid, indicating a successful connection.

For a visual walkthrough of this process, see the HP printer setup (HP Smart app) guide.

Is the blue wireless light on your printer currently blinking, or is it completely off?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
