HP LaserJet MFP M234dw Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I cannot connect my new printer to my desktop, and neither can our IT team. It printed for the first day and then stopped printing and said we need to set it up using HP Smart app which is ridiculous because I shouldn't have to download the app in order to use it. It's currently connected via USB but required Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Wi-Fi isn't connecting to my desktop or through my phone and Ethernet isn't possible because our company phones are connected (VoIP) to the ethernet port on my PC (only have 1).

Can someone tell me if there is a way to use this printer without Smart App? or do I just have to return it?

Return it. The M234dwe is an HP+ printer that requires a constant internet connection and HP Smart to work.
