HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I am attempting to connect the HO Laser Jet Pro MFP M29w printer to a new network, but the printers home page requests a username and password to open the network or systems page.  How can I reset the printer to a known username and password so I can set it up on the new network?

I have used the control panel reset where you hold the Wi-Fi button for 20 seconds waiting for the power and issue light to flash.  While I can make them flash and the printer power cycle, I still do not have the needed credentials to access the network or systems page.  I do not have access to the new Wi-Fi router so I cannot use the automatic connection and have to select the network and manually enter the network password.  I can connect to the printer via USB using a HP Windows 11 laptop.

Thank you for the guidance

Hi @Rrrex,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I see that your HP Printer is not connecting to the wi-fi network after changing the router.

There is an alternate way to connect to the new network by using the USB cable.

Please follow the steps listed in the document below to connect using USB cable and then change it to wireless.

Step 1: Connect using USB cable:

Please follow the steps in this document to connect the printer using the USB cable.

Step 2: Change from a USB connection to wireless:

Please follow the steps in this document to change from a USB connection to a wireless network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the reply.  Unfortunately it leaves me with the same issue.  When I select System or Network it asks for username and password.  I have the previous credentials but they do not work.

I assume there is a hardware reset process which will return the credentials to factory values so I need that process and the factory credentials.
