Our printer has a history of going offline, our retirement community tech person has been helping us out as we being in our 70's are not real tech savvy. After getting the printer online so we can print using Wi-Fi from our phones, iPad, and new Dell computer after about 30 minutes or so after our tech guy has left the printer goes offline. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi,

Thank you for the update!

I understand your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw keeps going offline after about 30 minutes, even after your tech helper gets it working. Don’t worry — this is a common issue with Wi-Fi printers, and we can absolutely get this fixed. Let’s go step-by-step.

Make Sure the Printer Has a Stable Wi-Fi Connection

Your printer should always stay connected to the same Wi-Fi network you use on your devices.

On the printer panel:

Tap OK → Network Setup → Wireless Menu → Wireless Setup Wizard

Reconnect to your Wi-Fi

Make sure you select the main 2.4 GHz network (this printer does NOT support 5 GHz Wi-Fi)

Assign a Static IP (Most Important Step!)

Printers often go offline because the router keeps changing their IP address.

To prevent that:

On the printer:
OK → Setup → Reports → Network Summary
Note down the IP Address.

On your browser:
Type that IP into the address bar → Press Enter
This opens the printer’s EWS page.

Go to:
Network → IPv4 → Manual IP

Check Manual IP

Enter the same IP

Apply changes

This locks the printer to one permanent IP so it doesn’t disconnect again.

Turn Off “Auto-Off” on the Printer

If Auto-Off is enabled, the printer sleeps and shows offline.

On printer:

Setup → Preferences → Auto-Off / Energy Save

Set it to Off

Add the Printer Again Using the IP Address

On Windows 11:

Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners

Remove the printer

Click Add device → Add manually

Choose “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address”

Enter the same static IP address you assigned

This ensures Windows always talks to the printer correctly.

Restart Your Router + Printer

A fresh restart helps the new settings take effect.

I hope this helps.
