I have a LaserJet M209dw Printer. I changed WiFi networks and have been unable to set the printer back up with my computer. I've looked at multiple guides from HP and have even tried to restore WiFi setup mode, but the HP Smart app is still failing to locate the printer. I have both WiFi and Bluetooth enabled.

Hi @Brennan19

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry this setup issue has persisted—it’s incredibly frustrating when your LaserJet M209dw won’t reconnect after a network change, especially when you’ve already tried restoring WiFi setup mode and followed multiple guides.

You’ve done a great job staying persistent, and I’ll guide you through a clean reset and reconnection path that should help the HP App locate your printer again.

Step-by-step actions to reconnect your LaserJet M209dw after changing WiFi networks

1. Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode properly

This step is essential to make the printer discoverable again.

  • Turn on the printer and wait until it’s idle.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the back of the printer until the Attention light blinks.
  • This restores Wi-Fi setup mode and enables the printer to broadcast its setup signal for 2 hours.

If the light doesn’t blink, unplug the printer for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and try again.

2. Use the HP App to reconnect

  • Open the HP App on your Windows computer or mobile device.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled (this helps with discovery).
  • Tap Add Printer and wait for the LaserJet M209dw to appear.
  • Select it and follow the prompts to connect to your new Wi-Fi network.

If the printer doesn’t appear, try moving it closer to your router and ensure your device is on the same network.

3. Install the full driver package (if needed)

  • Visit: HP LaserJet M209dw Drivers
  • Download and install the full software package for your printer and operating system.
  • Restart your computer after installation.

4. Run the Diagnose & Fix tool

Let me know how the printer behaves after these steps. If it still doesn’t appear in the HP App, we can explore alternate setup paths using USB or manual IP configuration.

You’re doing everything right by staying methodical—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.
