I have a Laser Jet Pro 200 Color M276 printer that does not print via WiFi with the new router I purchased. My new router is a Nighthawk RS280; my previous router was an Orbi modem/ router combo (CBR40).
However, my printer does connect to the router when I remove the security option from the router. The other security options (WPA2-Personal, WPA-Personal + WPA2-Personal, WPA3-Personal, and WPA2-Personal + WPA3-Personal) will not allow the printer to connect.
I contacted Netgear and they tried several troubleshooting options. This included disabling the Smart Connect, disabling the MU-MIMO & OFDMA, turning off Access Control, and enabling the 2.4 GHz Guest Network.
The level 2 tech at Netgear suggested I reach out to HP to determine if there is a firmware update for my printer; it is an older model. The latest one I could find is Version 20190401.
Do you know if there is a fix for the issue I currently have or any other suggestions I could try?

Hi @AwardYourMiles,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you’ve done a lot of the troubleshooting already! Here are a few more suggestions to try:
Update Printer Firmware: Ensure you have the latest firmware for your printer. If Version 20190401 is indeed the latest available, then you’ve got the most recent version. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Printer Network Settings:
- Reset Network Settings: Sometimes resetting the network settings on the printer and reconnecting it can help. You can usually find this option in the printer’s menu under Network or Wireless settings.
- Manual IP Address: Try assigning a static IP address to your printer. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues with newer routers.
Router Settings:
- 2.4 GHz Band: Ensure your printer is connecting to the 2.4 GHz band of your router. Many older printers do not support the 5 GHz band.
- Security Protocol: Since the printer connects when security is disabled, try setting your router’s security to WPA2-Personal only, and ensure the encryption type is AES, which is generally more compatible with older devices.
- Channel Settings: Sometimes changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router can help with connectivity issues. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are commonly used and recommended for the 2.4 GHz band.
Compatibility Issues:
- Printer Compatibility: Check if there are any known compatibility issues between the HP LaserJet Pro 200 and Netgear routers. Sometimes routers have firmware updates that address specific compatibility issues.
Temporary Workaround:
- Use Ethernet: If possible, connect your printer to the router via an Ethernet cable. This can help determine if the issue is specific to Wi-Fi or if it might be a broader network issue.
Printer Driver and Software: HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276n
- Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer can help. Make sure to download the latest drivers from the HP website.
Refer to this document: HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276n User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
