Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I was given an InkJet Pro 9015 that was originally a colleague's. I can connect to my wifi and print, but the printer cannot connect to web services and does not show up in my HP Smart app. I get a message "The printer cannot connect to the server. Contact the person who set up the printer," but I don't know what information I need from that person.

I printed the network configuration page but cannot access any of the URLs for the embedded web server. The printer diagnostics page says "FAIL" after DNS/Configured.

Hi @gfe99,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP InkJet Pro 9015 is having trouble connecting to web services and is not showing up in the HP Smart app, you may need to troubleshoot the network and connectivity issues. Here are some steps you can take to address the problem.

Check Network Connection:

  • Make sure that the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can verify this by printing a Network Configuration Page from the printer's control panel.
  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi signal is stable and that the printer is within the range of the wireless router.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This simple step can often resolve connectivity issues.

Check Wireless Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is using the correct wireless network settings (SSID and password). You may need to reconfigure the wireless settings if they are incorrect.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve bugs or issues related to connectivity.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings and look for an option to reset network settings. This will reset all network-related configurations, and you'll need to set up the Wi-Fi connection again.

Check DNS Settings:

  • Since you mentioned a DNS configuration failure, verify that the DNS settings on the printer are correct. You may need to manually set the DNS servers in the printer's network settings.

Connectivity with Web Server:

  • If you cannot access the embedded web server, ensure that there are no firewall or security settings on your network blocking the printer's access to web services.

Check HP Smart App:

  • Ensure that you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. Update the app if necessary, and try reinstalling it. Make sure that your smartphone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all settings, including the network configuration, and you'll need to set up the printer again from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I took my computer to another location and used a different printer.

Now I am at my main location and printer will not re-connect to my server.
