Hello - the printer is connected through my WiFi network and always seems to go offline. Even when I press on the display screen to wake it up, it still doesn't work. I have to uninstall and reinstall my printer each time, in order to wake it up. Why is this happening and how can I resolve the problem please?

Hi @Maltacom2000,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing offline issues with printers can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
- Check Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your WiFi network. Sometimes, a weak signal or interference can cause the printer to go offline. Try moving the printer closer to your router or access point and see if that helps.
- Restart Printer and Router: Turn off your printer and then unplug your router for about 30 seconds. Plug the router back in and wait for it to fully restart. Then turn your printer back on and see if it reconnects to the network.
- Update Firmware: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Manufacturers often release updates to improve performance and fix bugs, including connectivity issues.Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Static IP Address: Assign a static IP address to your printer instead of using DHCP. This can sometimes help maintain a more stable connection.
- Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Check your firewall or antivirus software settings to ensure they're not blocking communication between your printer and your computer or network.
- Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues.
- Printer Configuration: Check the printer settings to make sure it's not set to go into sleep mode too quickly. You may also want to disable any power-saving features that could be causing it to disconnect from the network.
- Reset Network Settings: If all else fails, you can try resetting the network settings on your printer to factory defaults and then reconfigure the WiFi connection from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Hello - thank you for your assistance, but I'm afraid I'm still having problems. Sometimes turning off and resetting everything works, so that the printer then re-connects. However, this is only a temporary fix, because a day or so later and the problem occurs again. Sometimes turning off and on doesn't solve the problem, so I have to uninstall and reinstall the printer on my laptop. This is becoming very frustrating, as I'm sure you can imagine.
I don't know what to do, but I'm far from satisfied with this printer so far. Can you please help me solve this problem once and for all.
The troubleshooting instructions you gave me and the instructions online, all say to turn off and on to start with. Like I said, yes, this fixes the problem on most occasions, but I shouldn't have to keep turning the device off and on.
PLEASE HELP ME 🙂

Hey, Maltacom2000, my frustrated fellow HP user, don't hold your breath. They're just going to gaslight you further. I've had this problem since 2022, and no resolution has been forthcoming. I'm waiting for this printer to die so that I can buy a Brother printer. Not only will the offline problem be solved, but I will no longer be an ink prisoner. I wish you the best of luck.
