Might be a school policy to not allow unknown printers or other devices to connect to the network.
Printers, in particular, might not be allowed (or recommended) on your school's network.
Ask you school IT department for the policy and possible procedure to connect your printer to their network.
If the printer is not allowed on the network or if you think better of letting random people access to your printer,
and
If the printer supports it,
Consider connecting the printer using Wi-Fi Direct.
When supported, your printer's user manual will include a section on configuring and using Wi-Fi Direct.
