I get the following error message:
Printer Cannot Print
A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved. Check your HP account for more information.
If you have an HP+ printer, make sure to use Original HP cartridges.
To learn more, open the HP Smart app or visit www.hpsmart.com and sign in to your account.
I sign in to my HP Smart account as suggested above. It indicates that my printer is Disconnected from Internet.
I see that the blue light in the printer is solid. I believe that this indicates that my printer is connected to the Internet. To be on the safe side, I decide to invoke the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer. Initially, it displays the following message:
The Wi-Fi connection has already been set up. Are you sure you want to set it up again?
I answer Yes and go through the wizard. At the end of the process, it displays Connection Successful.
I attempt to print again. It doesn't work. It still displays the Printer Cannot Print error message.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this issue.
Thank you

I’m here to help you troubleshoot your issue and get things back on track. Just follow these steps below, and we’ll have you running smoothly in no time:
1. Check the Printer’s Internet Connection
- Confirm Wi-Fi Connection:
- Even though the blue light is solid (indicating that it's connected), it's good to verify this from the printer’s control panel.
- Navigate to the printer’s Network Settings to ensure it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- If possible, print a Network Configuration Page to verify connection details.
- Check Router:
- Ensure that your router is functioning correctly. Sometimes, restarting the router can resolve intermittent connectivity issues.
- Check Printer’s IP Address:
- Make sure your printer has a valid IP address. You can verify this on the Network Configuration Page.
- If the IP is set to a static IP address, make sure it's within your local network range.
2. Check HP Smart App and Account
- Sign Out and Sign Back In:
- On your HP Smart app, try logging out and logging back in to reset any session-related issues.
- HP+ Subscription:
- If your printer is part of an HP+ program (HP Instant Ink or subscription), ensure that your subscription is active.
- If there’s an issue with your HP+ account, you might need to resolve it by checking your account status in the app or via the HP Account website.

3. Verify Ink Cartridges
- Use Original HP Cartridges:
- Ensure you are using genuine Original HP ink cartridges (as indicated in the error message). Non-HP cartridges may cause issues with HP+ printers.
- Check Cartridge Status:
- Check ink levels in the HP Smart app or on the printer display to ensure they are full and properly installed.
- Sometimes, simply reseating the cartridges can help resolve recognition issues.
4. Reboot the Printer
- Power Cycle:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- This can help reset the printer’s internal systems and resolve minor connectivity issues.
5. Reconfigure the Printer’s Wi-Fi Settings
- Since you've already gone through the Wireless Setup Wizard, try the following:
- Forget the Wi-Fi Network:
- In the printer’s settings, choose to forget the current Wi-Fi network and then reconnect it through the Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Forget the Wi-Fi Network:
- Use a USB Connection (Temporary Solution):
- If wireless printing continues to fail, connect the printer directly to your computer via USB and try printing again. This can confirm if the issue is related to the wireless setup or the printer itself.
6. Check for Firmware and Software Updates
- Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP printer. You can do this through the HP Smart app or via the printer’s control panel (Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer).
- Update HP Smart App:
- Make sure the HP Smart app is up to date, as an outdated app can cause issues with communication between the printer and the cloud.

7. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
- If you continue to see "Printer Cannot Print," resetting the network settings on your printer might help:
- Go to the printer’s Settings > Network Setup and choose Restore Network Defaults or Reset Wireless Settings.
- After resetting, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi through the Wireless Setup Wizard.
8. Check Printer Status on HP Smart App
- See if the Printer is Listed and Online:
- In the HP Smart app, check if the printer shows as Online. If it’s still showing Disconnected, try deleting the printer from the app and then adding it again.
- Troubleshoot Through HP Smart:
- Use the troubleshooting feature available in the HP Smart app. This will guide you through the common troubleshooting steps and could help identify the root cause.
9. Check Firewall or Security Software
- Firewall Blocking Communication:
- Ensure that your firewall or any security software is not blocking the communication between your printer and HP servers.
- If necessary, temporarily disable the firewall and try printing again.
