Hi @AA778

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue:

1. Restart Printer and Laptop

  • Power cycle both your printer and laptop.
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    2. Restart your laptop.
    3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Check Wireless Connection (If Using Wi-Fi)

  1. On your printer’s control panel, go to Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.
  3. If needed, reconnect the printer to the network by following the instructions on the printer’s screen.

3. Re-add the Printer to Windows

  1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Find your HP ENVY 5660 in the list, click on it, and select Remove Device.
  3. Restart your laptop.
  4. Go to Add a Printer or Scanner and let Windows search for the printer.
  5. Select the HP ENVY 5660 and follow the prompts to add it back.

4. Run the HP Printer Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  2. Select Printer, then click Run the troubleshooter.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix any issues.

5. Reinstall HP Printer Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Support website and search for your HP ENVY 5660 printer.
  2. Download and install the latest drivers for your operating system.
  3. After installation, restart your laptop and try to print again.

6. Check the Printer’s IP Address (For Network Issues)

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page from your printer’s menu (usually found under Settings or Network).
  2. Ensure the printer has a valid IP address and is on the same network as your laptop.
  3. If the IP address is incorrect or the printer is offline, try reconnecting it to your network.

7. Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily:

  1. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software.
  2. Try connecting to the printer again.
  3. If this resolves the issue, you may need to adjust the firewall settings to allow printer communication.

9. Reset the Printer

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Restore Defaults or Reset (this may be listed under Maintenance).
  2. After resetting, reconnect the printer to your laptop.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
