Hi @Shawn2874,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When your printer is stuck on “Validating” even though it’s connected to the internet, it usually means the printer is trying to verify its HP account or Instant Ink subscription but can’t complete the process. This is common with HP+ or e-series printers.

Here’s how to fix it:

1. Check Internet & HP Account

  • Make sure the printer has a stable Wi-Fi connection (not just connected, but with internet access).
  • On the printer screen, confirm the Wi-Fi icon is solid blue.
  • Open the HP app on your phone or PC and sign in to your HP account.

2. Restart Printer & Router

  • Power off the printer for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your router.
  • Turn the printer back on and wait for it to reconnect.

3. Update Printer Firmware

  • On the printer:
Setup → Printer Maintenance → Update Printer.
  • Or download the latest firmware from Official HP® Support.

4. Reconnect HP Services

  • In HP App, go to Printer Settings → HP Account → Refresh or Reconnect.
  • If prompted, accept the terms for HP+ or Instant Ink.

5. Factory Reset (Last Resort)

  • On the printer:
Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore → Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Then set up the printer again using the HP app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
