HP Envy 6010
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I recently had to change the wifi router at home, hence I had to reinstall the printer (HP Envy 6010) onto my Windows 10 desktop.

HP Smart did it without any issues, but after it was installed, I see that my computer reports the existence of a new wifi network, named DIRECT-27-HP ENVY 6000 SERIES. It goes away when I turn off the printer, so it's not someone in the neighbourhood.

Does anybody know if that is used for anything? Does it pose any kind of security risk? Is it possible to turn it off?

Thanks,

Welcome to the HP Community.

The address indicates a Wi-Fi Direct connection.

Wi-Fi Direct is a direct wireless connection between the printer (using the printer's wireless radio) and the computer.

If you are not using Wi-Fi Direct, that is, your printer is connected using standard Wireless, you can switch off the Wi-Fi Direct on the printer.
