My printer is periodically dropping from my network. To get it to work I have to unplug it and restart it.

Possibly, your printer is having trouble waking up from sleep.  A quick fix for this symptom is to prevent it from sleeping

 

Go to your printer and make sure it is on and functioning.  

Bring up HP Smart and select your printer.  It should show "Ready".  If not make sure it is on and try again.

Once it is ready then click "Printer Setting" and look for "Advanced Settings" on the left side

Click Advanced Settings and then select "System" and "System Setup".  Your windows dialog box may be different or have different names but look for 'Sleep Delay" and set to "Off" where I show 30 minutes

I am finally back at the place where my printer is located. I am using a Chromebook to access it. I continually have the issue when using HP Smart . This computer doesn't seem to connect with the printer all the time. HP Smart isn't showing the printer as ready even though I have access on my Iphone where it shows as ready. I've tried to recycle the printer and the computer but no change.
