Hi @Pancho1313,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225-26 shows a printer error without a specific message, but it is connected to Wi-Fi, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Printer and Router

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait for about a minute, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Check Printer Connection

  • Ensure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can verify this on the printer's control panel under network settings.

3. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check for firmware updates for your printer on the HP Support website. Sometimes, updates can resolve connectivity and error issues.

4. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can help diagnose and fix printing issues. You can find it on the HP support site.

5. Remove and Re-add the Printer

  • Go to your computer’s Devices and Printers settings.
  • Remove the printer from the list of devices.
  • Re-add it by selecting Add a printer and following the prompts.

6. Check Print Queue

  • Sometimes, documents can get stuck in the print queue. Open the print queue and cancel any stuck jobs. Then try printing again.

7. Check for Errors on the Printer

  • Look at the printer's control panel for any error messages or warning lights that might indicate a specific issue (like paper jams, low toner, etc.).

8. Ensure Correct Printer Driver

  • Make sure you have the correct driver installed for your printer model. Check the HP website for the latest drivers compatible with your operating system.

9. Test with a Direct USB Connection

  • If possible, connect the printer directly to your computer via USB to see if it prints correctly. This can help determine if the issue is related to Wi-Fi.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel571 (pancho1313 here).  Thank you for your very comprehensive reply.  I have actually performed all of what you have mentioned including removing and re-adding the printer and the driver  ~  with one exception :  everything I've read previously previously and included in your point no. 2

: "Ensure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You can verify this on the printer's control panel under network settings."

I don't see anywhere in the printer control panel in the network setup section where I see the network name.  I should point out that this problem started when I got a new router.  The printer itself works  ~  I can scan and "photocopy".  When I printed the "Wireless Network test Report" , I get the message  ~  "No problems found.  Congratulations on the successful setup of your HP wireless printer."  However, further up in the report under "Network Name (SSID) Found" it indicates on the right side "=Fail" .  The router has a WPS button and when I try to connect after the prompt on the printer control panel I do get a "connection successful" message.  But when I attempt to print from one of our pcs (one of which is an HP), I still get a print error.

Hi @Pancho1313,

May I know if the network has 2.4 or 5 Ghz frequency?

The printer might not work with 5Ghz. Could you please give it a try with 2.4 Ghz?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

HI Rachel571 (Pancho1313 here).  Once again I thank you for your prompt response.  The network is indeed 5Ghz but before I attempt to change it (and I'm really not sure I'd try that personally) I just want to say one thing   ~  the router, my pc, and the printer are all on the same desk not 3 feet apart from each other.  My understanding is that the 5Ghz should be OK in that scenario ?   On the other hand, all my other connected devices (including 3 HD TVs) are on that network and I'm not sure what changing the frequency would have.  I'd appreciate any more thoughts.  Thank you in advance.

Hi @Pancho1313,

Thank you for your response. I would like to inform you that the printer will work with 2.4 GHz. Is it possible to connect with 2.4 Ghz? Does the router has dual frequency?

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you once again Rachel571  ~  ironically of the 3 routers I've had since I obtained the printer, the 2 earlier ones did have the dual frequency feature.  The new router (which supposedly gives me higher/better bandwidth) has just the 5Ghz.  I shall try to contact my provider to see if I can either switch to 2.4 or even have the dual option.  (I realise it may be possible to do this myself but I'm reluctant to mess around with it at the moment !)   I shall definitely keep you posted on my progress.
