Hi, since few days my hp2720e does not connect automatically to wifi.
Every time I want to print I have to configure the printer as it was the first time I use it.
I also tried to set a fixed ip address for the printer, but the printer seem to lose the settings.
Do you have any suggestion?
thanks

Hi @ms2700
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Not to worry, I'll do my best to resolve the printer's connectivity issue.
Let us try to restore the printer to the default network settings, and then use the HP Smart App from your mobile device to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Step 1:
Restore network default settings on the printer; to do that, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Power button flashes, and then wait for the Wireless light to flash.
Step 2:
Uninstall and re-install the HP Smart app on your mobile device.
Place the printer and the mobile device near the Wi-Fi router.
Turn on Wi-Fi on your mobile device and connect to your network.
Enable Bluetooth on the mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
After installing HP Smart for iOS and Android, enable the mobile device location service and allow the app to use your location to detect the printer and offer solutions during setup.
In HP Smart, click Add Printer or the plus sign to search for the printer, and then follow the instructions to complete the setup.
Once connected Update the firmware on your printer
HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.

Sorry, none of these solutions are working.
Every time I turn on the printer it gets a different ip address and the PC cannot see the printer anymore.
I tried to turn off the DHCP and to set a fixed ip address... But after restart this setting is lost.
At the moment, the only viable solution is to keep the printer turned on, or to reconfigure it every time I want to print.

Thanks for replying.
Could you please check and let me know if your wireless router has a WPS button on it.
Also make sure you are trying to connect to 2.4GHz network, because your printer model does not support 5GHz network.
If you are not sure of this please check with your ISP (Internet service provider).

Thanks, the network has both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz.
I have the WPS button, but the automatic connection did not work (I followed the instructions).
My problem is that the printer actually connects to my wifi network, BUT it does not do it AUTOMATICALLY.
I have also set a reserved IP address in my modem/router for the printer. So when the printer connects to the wifi now it has always the same IP address.
However the problem seems that even in these conditions the printer is no more able to connect automatically to the network, as it did before (in the last 2 years).
Every time I want to print I need to restart a "first connection procedure", in order to make the printer connect to the WIFI.
In my opinion it could be something like a software bug in the firmware (updated in June 2024)
Thanks
