Hi @ArgusFernpepper,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is always showing as offline and cannot be put online, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Restart Devices

  1. Restart the Printer and Computer/Mobile Device: Turn off the printer and the device you are printing from. If the printer is set up on a network, restart the router as well.

  2. Reconnect Power: If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power source, then reconnect it.

Check Network and Connections

For Wi-Fi Network:

  • Move the printer closer to the router within 8 meters (26 feet).
  • Ensure that your computer or mobile device and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

For Wired Network:

  • Check and replace the Ethernet cable if damaged. Ensure it has eight visible wires at the connector.
  • Reconnect to a different Ethernet port if necessary.

For USB Connection:

  • Make sure the USB cable is directly connected to the computer and is not longer than 3 meters (9 feet 10 inches).

Printer and Network Configuration

Printer Setup:

  • Make sure the printer displays a solid blue wireless light for Wi-Fi connection or a steady green light for Ethernet.

Network Profile:

  • On Windows, change your network profile to "Private" to allow network traffic for devices.

Re-Add the Printer

  • In the HP app or your system's printing preferences, remove and then re-add the printer. This can help to reset the printer's connection settings.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Regular firmware updates can fix issues and improve printer performance. Check for updates via the printer control panel, the HP app, or the Official HP® Support.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
