I have a Deskjet 2622.
I have successfully connected it to HP Smart but when I am brought back to the HP Smart homepage it says "please connect to the internet."
Pressing the "i" button on my Deskjet the print-out clearly confirms that the printer is connected to the internet.
Please advise how to fix this.

Welcome to the HP Community --
Web Services connects the printer to the Internet.
Wireless connects the printer to your local network.
Web Services >> Starting on Page 39
Note: Web Services controls in EWS are printer model dependent
Example – EWS – Web Services
Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Web Services > Web Services Settings > Summary

Thank you for your guidance.
I have connected to my printer through a browser using the IP address and am half way through setting up EWS.
One of the steps is:
"
The Web Services account must be activated at HP Connected
HP Connected will be opened in a new browser window. If it does not appear in a few seconds, click HP Connected to open the website."
When I attempt to access HP Connected by clicking on the link I get errors like this one on Firefox:
"Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to h30495.www3.hp.com. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR
Error code: PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR
- The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
- Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."
and this one on Edge:
"Your connection isn't private
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from h30495.www3.hp.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).

You are welcome.
Disclaimer:
DeskJet printers are not a specialty of mine -- older printers, in particular, might behave differently than I expect.

Where exactly are you seeing the message you quoted?
The embedded link (quoted in your message) is perhaps (appears to be) pulling an incorrect or unusable path.
If you are not currently signed into your HP Smart / HP Connected account, you should be able to do so here:
HP Smart / HP Connected – Sign in / Create Account
Note: Website might take 1-10 seconds to open
Click Flag to switch to your region
I would guess that the "proof" of a successful sign-in can be taken as proof that the printer is (or can be?) connected to the Internet. That is, if you can sign into HP Smart / HP Connected and your printer is either already listed or you can Add Printer to connect your printer, then Web Services works.
Why would Web Services or an old (and previously used / connected) printer fall off / out of HP Smart / HP Connected.
I don't know.
I believe it comes back to your network and connection to your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
If you had removed Web Services ( Troubleshooting guide: HP printers - Cannot connect to Web Services ), what happens when you click the ePrint or Web Services buttons on the printer's control panel?
EWS (the version I think you might be running) might include a Web Services tab.
If your EWS page looks similar to the example below,
(then)
You can check status of Web Services, Print the Info page, Proxy, and Remove Web Services.
OR
If the Web Services looks different, perhaps it looks like the tiny sample in the Troubleshooting guide. ?

Thank you.
I used the link you gave and it works - it gets me onto HP Smart and I then log on.
(Is HP Smart the same as HP Connected?)
Under "printers" I see "There are no printers added to your account yet"
"To add a new printer, make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on, then open the HP Smart app and find the add printer card at the top of the Home screen."
I do all of this.
HP Smart app searches for the printer and finds it (I double-check that the IP address matches my printer).
I click on this and I get the message:
"Select a different printer
HP Deskjet All-in-one printer series must be turned on to add it to HP Smart.
Once the printer is turned on tap ok to refresh and then select the printer again"
My printer is clearly turned on so I don't know why I am getting this error message.
(I do this a few times and still get the same error message).
Please advise.
