I cannot factory reset my printer. Everything says the printer is "locked by the person who set up the printer" and I never locked it. I can't change the wifi, install ink, or print anything. I moved  4 months ago and I just bought a house so I pulled my printer from storage and now I cannot connect it to my new WIFI network. My old one was with a rented modem from Xfinity so I no longer have access to that wifi network. My printer is listed on my HP Login but I cannot make any changes or reset to factory settings. I have also tried logging into the printer wifi network that it produces but I do not have the password nor do I remember setting one up for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My operating system is MacOs Sequoia 15.3.2(24D81)

Thanks,

Hi @JulioG4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check for Secure Print Settings:

  • Some HP printers have security settings that may lock certain functions. Check the printer settings and disable any secure print settings if possible.

2. Use HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store if you haven't already.
  • Use the app to attempt to change printer settings and reset network configurations.

3. Perform a Network Reset:

  • On your printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings.
  • This should clear previous network settings and allow you to connect to the new Wi-Fi network.

4. Factory Reset Steps:

Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

I hope this helps.
