@candy716, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

If your HP Smart Tank 7602 shows as "printer is asleep" on your computer but prints fine from your iPhone, it’s likely a communication or driver issue between the printer and your PC. Let’s walk through a few steps to get this resolved:

Wake the Printer Manually

  • Tap the power button or home screen on the printer’s control panel to wake it up.
  • Ensure the printer’s display is active before sending a print job from your PC.

Check Printer Connection

  • If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure both your printer and PC are connected to the same network.
  • You can confirm the printer’s IP address by:
    • Going to the printer’s Settings > Network Setup > Wi-Fi Summary.

Set Printer as Default & Check Status

  1. On your PC, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer > Set as default printer.
  3. Right-click again > See what’s printing > Printer tab.
  4. Make sure "Pause Printing" and "Use Printer Offline" are unchecked.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

Sometimes the driver may not communicate properly. Reinstalling can help:

  1. Uninstall the printer from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Download and install the latest full-feature driver from HP: Official HP® Support

Assign a Static IP (Optional but Recommended)

If the issue persists intermittently:

  • Assign a static IP to your printer via your router or printer’s network settings.
  • This helps maintain a stable connection with your PC.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
