Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have an HP Envy 7100. My phone is a Samsung S24 Ultra (Android 14). They are both connected to the same home WiFi.

I can see the printer from the phone but it is constantly  not available.

Everything is up to date.

I have restarted both printer and phone.

I have restarted the hub, although this is obviously not the problem.

I have disconnected and reconnected the WiFi.

I have cleared the print spooler cache and data.

I have done all of this routinely and repeatedly. If I'm lucky I get one print job done and then have to go through it all again.

I know this is a constant problem for a lot of people but I am going nuts with this. Does anyone have an answer for this.

Not everything on an Android or iPhone can be printed.  Possibly a document may need to be PDF and not DOCX

Some images cannot be printed due to the image format such as HCIF and some GIFs.

First see if HP Smart can request a status report.  If it cannot then there is a problem with communicating with the printer.

In any event, try using Wi-Fi direct

this is useful as it bypasses the router. There is also a video here

Hi. Thanks for this. It's really not an issue whether something can be be printed. I can print emails, photos, web pages pdfs and documents from my phone the problem is that I have to go through all these steps every to or three print jobs.

The printer status report says everything is connected and available. I dont know if that's the same as requesting a report through HP smart.

WiFi direct is enabled on the printer.

HP Print Service is installed on my phone.

I have no idea I'd my phone is trying to print using WiFi Direct or not. But everything seems to be in place.

Configure the android device to print directly to the printer using that video link I provided earlier.

The 7100 uses both 2.4 and 5ghz  band so any of those bands will work.  if your android is running at 5ghz make sure you connect to the 5ghz Wi-Fi direct signal the printer puts out.

I suspect the printer is getting a different IP address from the router every time it wakes up from sleep.  Wi-Fi direct bypass the router when printing

Did you sign up for instant ink subscription, eprint or internet printing such as the "plus" subscription?

if so, then the printer must be connected to the internet so it can "phone home".  You can continue to print using Wi-Fi direct but the printer needs to be online to fulfill the internet access requirement.

----to connect to internet---

Watch the reset video or perform the steps. After resetting, you generally have 2 hours to complete the setup. Decide if you want to connect the printer to the router or to print directly to the printer and bypass the router.

Many HP and other OEM printers have problems with the router when the router has two bands and both bands have the same name (SSID). Log into the modem and rename one of the bands. Alternately, contact your ISP and have them rename a band.

Or simply use Wi-Fi direct.

Going to be honest. I've tried all of this and I am going round in circles. None of the above works and most if it ends in dead ends. I'm obviously not the only one, message boards are full of this. Does anyone have a solution? I can't help thinking that I need to buy a new printer  - probably not HP.
