Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

I installed a new modem from my local cable company today, and I've lost my wi-fi connection, so my printer status is offline.  I've tried almost everything short of removing and reinstalling, which I'm very leery of doing. It's a DeskJet 2755e series that's just a bit over a year old. Everything was working fine until I installed the new modem. The blue light just keeps on flashing. When I try to connect through the system it says there is no internet access. Using the touch pad has no affect. I have two other devices that are working fine. Any suggestion would be welcome. Thank you in advance!

Hi @Billyhans01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your DeskJet 2755e printer is struggling to reconnect to the new Wi-Fi network following the modem change. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Check Wi-Fi Network Settings:

  • Verify that your new modem is broadcasting a Wi-Fi network and that the SSID (network name) and password have not changed from your previous setup unless you intentionally set a new network name or password during the installation of the new modem.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and the new modem. This can help clear any temporary connectivity issues. Turn them off, wait for about a minute, and then turn them back on.

Wi-Fi Setup via Printer Control Panel:

  • Since the touchscreen pad on your printer is not responsive, you might need to follow the manual Wi-Fi setup using the buttons around the screen or other indicators available on your printer. Consult your printer's manual for specific instructions on how to navigate these settings if the direct touch interaction isn't working.
  • The flashing blue light often indicates that Wi-Fi is not connected. There might be a way to start the Wi-Fi setup mode directly from these controls.

HP Smart App:

  • If you have a smartphone, you can download the HP Smart app. This app can often guide you through the process of connecting your printer to the Wi-Fi network. It’s particularly useful as it can provide on-screen instructions and diagnostics specific to your printer model.

Printer Software on PC:

  • If available, use the HP software installed on your computer to try to establish a connection to the printer. There might be tools within that software to help set up a wireless connection.

Check IP Address Allocation:

  • Ensure that your new modem/router is configured to assign IP addresses automatically via DHCP. Sometimes, devices fail to connect because they were assigned static IPs in the previous setup or there's an IP conflict.

Printer’s Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, consider a factory reset of the printer. This should revert all settings to their original state and might solve the connection issue. However, this will erase all settings, so you’ll need to set up the printer from scratch. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

My local Internet provider solved the problem for me. It involved pressing down on the internet button on the touchpad of the printer for 5 seconds, and the within 2 minutes pressing down on a button on the back of my new modem for 5 seconds. As I re-read the Method 3 provided in the HP Wireless Quick Start Guide I see now that the answer was sitting right there, but was not clear to me. Neither was the button on the new router (modem)!!!! My printer is connected now, and is running fine. Thanks for getting back to me.
