Printer not connecting to HP smart on some computers

Hello all,

I am trying to use this printer wirelessly to allow both myself and my wife to print from our respective computers. I have downloaded the HP smart app and logged in to the account on both computers exactly the same. However, the printer seems to connect COMPLETELY different to my computers as to her computers. For me, it adds the printer as "HP Smart" from the printer list (see below):

However, on her computer, it lists the printer something else:

When I print then, it sends the print job through the hp smart ap. When she tries to print, it will intermittently not work (more often it doesn't). When I go to the app to torubleshoot, it can't find the printer even though it is connected to mine. I have tried to un-install and re-install the app on her computer and turn the printer on/off MULTIPLE times so that is not the issue. What can I do to make it work better?

Preparation > Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”

Windows 11

Settings > System > Bluetooth & devices > Printers and scanners

Scroll down > Switch OFF Let Windows manage my default printer

Scroll up > Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Set as Default

Windows 10

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

What happened?

Not sure -

It appears that the HP Smart Printing driver is installed on your system -- and for some reason became the default printer device.

On the second image / computer, it appears the HP Smart Printing is not installed - the standard "HP named driver" is set as the default printing device.

HP Smart Printing

HP Smart Printing is a print driver that is (can be) added by HP Smart.

HP Smart Printing provides a modern GUI (user interface dialog) in place of the "standard".

Certain paper sizes / types / weights are compatible with other settings.

HP Smart Printing eliminates "conflict errors" by managing the available selections for the job.

Once added, the HP Smart Printing driver itself is permanent.

Use of the HP Smart Printing driver is optional.

After the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software is installed,

Set the preferred print driver in Printer Properties

Print Driver Selection - Job Setup

The print driver can be selected / changed during job submission.

For example,

Open the software / application to be used to view and submit the job to the printer.

Open the Printer list

Select the driver to be used with the current job configuration.
