I understand. Connecting an HP printer to Wi-Fi can be tricky, especially if you’ve already tried the usual steps. Let’s go through a clear, empathetic troubleshooting guide:

1. Check Wi-Fi Basics

  • Make sure your printer and computer/phone are on the same network (same SSID).
  • Ensure the Wi-Fi signal is strong, and the router is working properly.
  • If your router uses 5 GHz only, some HP printers need 2.4 GHz, enable both bands if possible.

 

2. Restart Everything

  • Power off the printer, router, and your device.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then power them back on in this order: router → printer → device.

 

3. Run Wireless Setup Wizard

On the printer’s touchscreen:

  • Go to Setup → Network → Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password carefully.
  • Confirm connection by printing a Wireless Network Test Report.

 

4. Use HP App

 

5. Check for Firewalls or VPN

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or VPN on your computer, as they can block printer discovery.
