HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer. We recently updated our modem and I am unable to connect the printer to the network. Here's what I've done using the display screen on the printer:

1. Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Default

2. Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard > select our new wireless network > enter the password.

When I enter the password, it says, "Trying to connect to the network," but it never works. Eventually it stops trying and displays the following message: "Unable to connect to the network. For diagnostic information, touch Print."

Below is what the diagnostic page shows. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

>WIRELESS

- Wireless On = PASS

- Wireless Working = PASS

>Connectivity

-Connected = Not Run

- Disconnect count total = 500

- Disconnect count (last hour) = 0

- Disconnect count (last 24 hours) = 0

>Network

- Other networks detected matching your network name (SSID) = No

- No Filtering = FAIL

Hi @mikewkemp,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer is not connecting to your network after upgrading your modem, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Network Connections:

  • Make sure your printer is powered on and in a ready state.
  • Verify that your new modem is functioning correctly and that other devices can connect to it.
  • Ensure that your printer and the modem are within the range of your Wi-Fi network.

Restart Your Devices:

  • Power off your printer and the new modem, and then turn them back on after waiting for a minute or two. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless settings or Wi-Fi setup menu.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network from the available list of networks.
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password if prompted.
  • Confirm that the printer successfully connects to the network.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. If so, download and install the latest firmware, as it may include improvements for network connectivity.

Reset Network Settings:

  • If you're still experiencing issues, you can try resetting the network settings on your printer to default. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes, security software can block the printer's connection to the network. Check the firewall or antivirus settings on your computer and ensure that they are not blocking the printer.

Check IP Address Configuration:

  • Ensure that your printer is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) unless you have specific network settings that require a static IP address.

Reconfigure the Printer:

  • If none of the above steps work, you may need to remove the printer from your computer's list of devices and then add it again. This can help establish a new connection.

Remember to have your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password handy when attempting to reconnect your printer to the network. Additionally, make sure that your new modem is properly set up and broadcasting the same Wi-Fi network name and password as your previous modem to avoid any compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
