Hi @ShiraVee,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is having trouble staying connected to your Wi-Fi network, even though it's connected via cable to the router. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue.
- Restart Devices: Start by restarting both your printer and your router. Sometimes a simple reset can resolve connectivity issues.
- Check Wi-Fi Settings on Printer: Ensure that the Wi-Fi connection settings on your printer are correctly configured. You may need to re-enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs and improve connectivity.
- Network Configuration: Verify that your router settings allow your printer to connect to the network. Ensure that MAC address filtering or any other network security settings are correctly configured.
- Printer Network Settings: Double-check the network settings on your printer to ensure it's set to connect via Wi-Fi as well as through the cable to the router.
- Reinstall Printer Drivers: Sometimes reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer can help resolve connectivity issues. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed from the HP website.
- Reset Network Settings on Printer: If none of the above steps work, you may need to reset the network settings on your printer and set up the Wi-Fi connection again from scratch.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
