My dealer 2710 is suddenly not connecting to my WiFi. I have followed all instructions to try and rectify this and no good. Is it just time to get a new one as had this for 5 years.

@KatyaK49, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer suddenly stops connecting to Wi-Fi, especially after years of reliable use. Let’s try a few steps to get your HP DeskJet 2710 back online before considering a replacement.

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

This clears any saved Wi-Fi credentials and lets you start fresh.

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer until the Power light blinks.
  • This will reset the network settings.

Reconnect Using HP Smart App

The HP Smart app is the easiest way to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi.

  • Download or open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC. HP Smart
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Tap Add Printer and follow the prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi.

Check Wi-Fi Requirements

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz (DeskJet 2710 does not support 5 GHz).
  • Keep the printer close to the router during setup.
  • Avoid using guest networks or enterprise networks.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues.

Try a USB Setup (if wireless fails)

  • Connect the printer via USB to your PC.
  • Use HP Smart to configure Wi-Fi settings from there.

Factory Reset (if needed)

If nothing works, a full reset might help:

  • Unplug the printer.
  • Hold the Power button for 10 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and retry setup.

Additional Tips

  • If your router was recently updated or replaced, reconfiguring the printer is necessary.
  • Avoid placing the printer near microwaves or thick walls that may interfere with signal.
