HP envy 6000 series, mac OSX 13.5.2

I am sometimes getting 'printer not responding' message when i go to print something.

Last time i deleted the printer to re add it in the mac setup and it then couldn't find the printer to set it up again.

Extremely frustrating using these printers. I've only had it a few months. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

How can this be fixed please?

Thanks

Hi @coffeeshop,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing issues with your HP Envy 6000 series printer on macOS can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the "printer not responding" problem. Here are some steps to help you address this issue.

  1. Check the Connection:

    • Ensure that your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  2. Restart Your Devices:

    • Restart both your printer and your Mac. This can often resolve minor connectivity issues.
  3. Printer Status:

    • On your printer's display, check if there are any error messages or if it's displaying as online. Make sure there's paper in the tray, and there are no paper jams.
  4. Check Printer Queues:

    • Open the "Printers & Scanners" settings in macOS (System Preferences > Printers & Scanners). Select your HP Envy printer from the list and check if there are any pending print jobs. If so, cancel them and try printing again.
  5. Remove and Re-Add the Printer:

    • If the printer is still not responding, you can try removing and re-adding it. a. In "Printers & Scanners," select your printer and click the '-' (minus) button to remove it. b. Then, click the '+' (plus) button to add it back. macOS should detect the printer and set it up again.
  6. HP Smart App (Optional):

    • You can also try using the HP Smart app, which can assist in setting up and troubleshooting your printer. Download it from the Mac App Store.
  7. Check for Software Updates:

    • Make sure you have the latest HP printer drivers and macOS updates installed. Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  8. Reset Printing System (Advanced):

    • If you're still experiencing issues, you can try resetting the printing system in macOS. Be cautious with this step, as it will remove all printers and you'll need to re-add them. a. Open "Printers & Scanners." b. Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers and select "Reset printing system." c. Re-add your printer as mentioned in step 5.
  9. Firewall and Security Software:

    • Sometimes, security software or firewall settings can interfere with printer communication. Check if any security software is blocking your printer.

These steps should help you troubleshoot and resolve the "printer not responding" issue on your HP Envy printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
