Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

My printer is connected to my wireless network.  I am able to ping the printer.  Using the HP App, it shows printer is "Online", but in Windows settings,  the printer is "Offline".   I used the HP App diagnosis function, and it shows that the problem was resolved, but when I tried to print the test page, it got hung in the cue.

Hi @Marc_W38,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When your printer is connected to a wireless network, but still appears offline in Windows while showing online on other devices, it could be due to configuration or communication issues between the printer and your Windows computer. Below are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Ensure Printer is Set to "Use Printer Online"

  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer icon.
  • Select Use Printer Online if available.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart your printer, router, and computer to refresh the network connection.
  • Turn off each device and turn them back on, starting with the router, then the printer, and finally your computer.

3. Clear Print Queue

  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Double-click your printer icon to open the print queue.
  • Cancel any stuck print jobs.

4. Verify Printer Port Settings

  • Ensure the printer's IP address matches the one configured in the printer’s driver settings on your computer.
  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer, then click Printer Properties.
  • Go to the Ports tab and ensure the port is correctly set to the printer’s IP address.

5. Temporarily Disable Firewall

  • Temporarily disable any firewall security software on your computer to check if it is blocking printer communication.
  • If disabling the firewall resolves the issue, you might need to adjust the firewall settings to allow printer communication.

6. Check Network Configuration

  • Ensure that both your computer and printer are connected to the same network.
  • Print a network configuration page to verify the network settings.

7. Update Printer Driver

  • Go to the HP Official HP® Support and download the latest driver and software package for your printer model.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
