Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use the printer infrequently.  Almost always when I do want to print something I get an error saying the printer is offline.  Shutting down the router and the printer seldom fixes the problem.  Usually, I have to remove the device and reinstall it but this is time consuming and doesn't always work.  I use HP Print and Scan Doctor and print test pages from there even when the printer status is "offline".  I need a permanent fix to this problem, which may be that I don't ever buy an HP printer again.
