Hi @steverose72,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your new HP DeskJet 4100e printer is offline and cannot connect to the internet despite trying standard fixes, you can follow these detailed steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Wi-Fi Networ

  • Check if other devices can connect to the Wi-Fi network without issues.Move the printer closer to the router to ensure it is within range.
  • Turn off your router, wait for 30 seconds, and turn it back on.Restart your printer by turning it off, waiting for 30 seconds, and then turning it back on.

2. Use HP Smart App for Setup

  • Download the HP Smart app from the HP website or your device’s app store (available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS).Open the app and sign in or create an HP account if prompted.
  • Click on the + icon to add a new printer.Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.

3. Check Printer's Wi-Fi Settings

  • On the printer control panel, press the Wi-Fi button to access the Wi-Fi settings.Select the option to set up a new Wi-Fi connection.
  • Follow the prompts to enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

4. Manual Wi-Fi Connection via WPS

  • Press the WPS button on your router. The WPS light should start blinking. On the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button for about 5 seconds or until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking. The printer should automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP Support website and enter your printer model.Download the latest firmware update.
  • Follow the instructions provided to install the firmware update on your printer.

6. Assign a Static IP Address

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer's control panel (refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions).
  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer's IP address in the address bar.
  • Log into the printer's web interface.Navigate to the network settings and set a static IP address that is within your router’s DHCP range but outside the dynamic range (e.g., 192.168.1.250).
  • Save the changes and restart the printer.

7. Factory Reset

  • Refer to your printer’s user manual for specific instructions on performing a factory reset.Typically, this involves pressing and holding certain buttons on the printer for a specific duration. After the reset, reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection using the HP Smart app or manual setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
