Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

I own a HP DeskJet 2800 series and recently got newly installed internet (Quantum) and I am unable to print a PDF document wireless from my Mac Air laptop. I have never had a problem printing anything before with my last internet service. My computer shows “printer offline”. My HP printer constantly has the blue wi-fi light is blinking. I’ve attempted all basic troubleshooting on my end. Restarting printer and computer. Please help me.

Hi @DJD0037

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how discouraging it feels when the printer suddenly shows “offline” after changing your internet service. You’ve already done the right first steps by restarting both the printer and your Mac, so let’s now guide the printer back onto your new wireless network.

Step 1: Confirm wireless connection

  • The blinking blue Wi-Fi light means the printer is searching but not connected.
  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button until it blinks faster.
  • Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your Quantum router (if available).
  • If your router does not have WPS, you’ll need to reconnect using the HP App.

Step 2: Reconnect using the HP App

  • On your Mac, download and open the HP App from the App Store.
  • Add your printer again by selecting “+” and following the on-screen steps.
  • Enter your new Wi-Fi network name and password when prompted.
  • Once connected, the blue light should turn solid.

Step 3: Reset the print system on your Mac

  • Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose “Reset printing system.”
  • Add the printer back by clicking “+” and selecting your HP DeskJet 2800 series.

Step 4: Test with a simple document

  • Try printing a plain text file first to confirm the connection.
  • If successful, then print your PDF document.

Step 5: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows alternative if you ever connect to a PC)

For Mac, the HP App handles diagnostics, but if you use Windows, HP provides a tool called Diagnose & Fix inside the HP App.

Here’s a helpful guide from HP on connecting your printer wirelessly:
HP Printers - Wireless Printing

Once the printer is reconnected to your new Quantum Wi-Fi, the blue light will stay steady, and your Mac should recognize it immediately. You’ve already shown great patience in restarting devices—now these steps should bring your printer back online smoothly.
