I just changed my internet router and I am having trouble printing. The WiFi light is on but it says the printer is offline. I have tried every troubleshooting suggestion to no avail.

Hi @Caitlin50,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it must be to see your printer showing “offline” right after setting up a new router, even though the WiFi light is on.

Could you please share the printer model number ? Also, let me know if you’re using Windows, macOS, or a mobile device to print.

Here are a few steps that often resolve this issue:

Restart printer and router: Power off both, wait 30 seconds, then turn them back on. This refreshes the network connection.

Reconnect WiFi: On the printer’s control panel, run the Wireless Setup Wizard (or press the WiFi button if available) to reconnect it to the new router.

Check IP address: Sometimes the printer gets a new IP after router changes. Verify it matches what your computer is using.

Update drivers: Ensure your computer has the latest HP drivers installed.

Set printer online: On Windows, go to Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and make sure “Use Printer Offline” is unchecked.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
