HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I am looking for help.  In my area, we just upgraded to the internet with fiber optic cables from the copper lines.  Now  I have trouble getting my relatively new HP Smart Tank 6000 all in one,  to link to my wireless network. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Looking for assistance.

Thank you jgmfc2

Hi @jgcmfc2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One printer to your new fibre-optic Wi-Fi network after upgrading from copper lines. This is a common issue when switching to a new modem or router, especially with newer network configurations.

Recommended Steps to Reconnect Your Printer

  1. Restore Network Settings on the Printer
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Power button on the printer simultaneously until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking.
    • This will reset the printer’s network settings and put it into Wi-Fi setup mode.

  2. Use the HP Smart App for Setup
    • Make sure your Windows 10 PC is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.
    • Open the HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store, and click the “+” icon to add a new printer.
    • If the printer isn’t detected, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your PC (required for initial setup).
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the wireless setup.

  3. Check Router Settings
    • Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz signal, as many HP printers (including the Smart Tank 6001) do not support 5 GHz networks.
    • If your router combines both bands under one SSID, consider splitting them temporarily during setup.

  4. Optional: Connect via USB Temporarily
    • If wireless setup continues to fail, connect the printer to your PC using a USB cable.
    • Use the HP Smart app to complete the setup, then switch to wireless once the printer is configured.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
