Printer/scanner wifi connection in mesh extender network

I have a HP Photosmart B110 printer/scanner which has been working well over my wifi. Recently, however, I have introduced a NETGEAR EX7700 — AC2200 Nighthawk X6 Tri-Band WiFi Mesh Extender to my wifi network. This extender is working well with all devices that I regularly use but when I switched on the HP Photosmart for some scanning the Photosmart wouldn't connect and, on running troubleshooting, it reported that it had discovered two access points with the same SSID. It had therefore decided that it would not connect as the connection might be to the wrong network. I do, of course, have the two access points because that is how the Nighthawk has enabled the mesh network.

To get around the issue and to complete my scanning I had to temporarily turn off the Nighthawk.

I am assuming therefore that the software on the Photosmart cannot cope with the mesh network enabled by the Nighthawk.

Do I have to accept that there is nothing that can be done about this or is there any configuration, setting or firmware upgrade that can resolve the issue?

Unfortunately, this type of network will not work with this Printer.
