HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer

My printer has stopped connecting to WiFi. Have tried all HP suggestions with no luck. Is it cynical of me to be suspicious it has stopped a couple of months after the warranty has expired or can someone suggest a fix other than check for latest driver and reboot devices…

Hi @Sunnyside4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It’s not uncommon for printers to experience connectivity issues with Wi-Fi, especially after some time. Here’s a detailed guide to troubleshoot the problem, which includes some less common solutions beyond the usual driver updates and device reboots:

1. Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength

Printer Location:

  • Ensure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Objects like walls or large appliances can interfere with the signal.

Router Position:

  • If possible, move your router to a more central location or closer to the printer.

2. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

Forget Network:

  • Go to your printer’s network settings and find the option to forget or disconnect from the current Wi-Fi network.

Reconnect:

  • Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network by selecting your network name and entering the password again.

3. Update Printer Firmware

Visit HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model.

Download Firmware:

  • Check for any available firmware updates and follow the instructions to update the printer.

4. Reset Network Settings

  1. Reset Network Settings:
    • On your printer, navigate to the network settings menu and look for an option to reset or restore network settings to default.
    • Reconfigure the Wi-Fi settings after resetting.

5. Check Router Settings

SSID Visibility:

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network’s SSID (network name) is visible and not hidden.

Compatibility:

  • Verify that your router is broadcasting on a frequency that is compatible with your printer (e.g., 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).

Security Settings:

  • Check if your router’s security settings (WPA2, WPA3) are compatible with your printer.

6. Printer Driver and Software

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the existing printer software from your computer and reinstall it. This can help resolve connectivity issues related to software conflicts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

This ended up being really helpful. Thank you. The frustration for me is that it took quite a while and a lot of perseverance to get this response. It would be really helpful if HP could work out a way for people to get pay the re-boot printer and reboot the network and getting to this level of advice of faster?
