Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Printer cannot detect wireless - wireless working well on other devices.   I have tried switching it off and on together with switching off router and laptop in all possible sequences.  I can't use the printer as a USB printer because Apple AirPrint overrides the USB print request.  I have no print drivers and HP Smart can't download them  because printer has no wireless.  The problem originated when I plugged in a router extender and the printer attached to that IP instead of the actual router.  But now I have unplugged the extender the printer can't find my network/router. Other than beating it to death with a sledgehammer, can anyone else think of a better solution.  Thanks

Hi @tishga

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand your printer is unable to detect the wireless network even though other devices are connecting successfully. Thank you for sharing the steps you have already tried—it helps to know what has been covered.

Since the issue began after the router extender was removed, the printer may still be holding onto outdated network information. Let’s go through the recommended steps to restore the connection:

Reset the printer’s network settings

  • On the printer control panel, locate the Wireless button or menu.
  • Select Restore Network Defaults. This clears any saved extender IP or incorrect network profiles.

Restart your devices

  • Power off the printer, router, and computer/phone.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds, then power on the router first, followed by the printer, and finally your computer/phone.

Reconnect using the HP App

  • Ensure the latest version of the HP App is installed on your device.
  • Open the HP App and select Set up a new printer.
  • Follow the guided steps to connect the printer to your main router’s Wi‑Fi network.
  • If prompted, enter your Wi‑Fi password carefully.

Verify the wireless light

  • Once connected, the printer’s wireless light should turn steady blue.
  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer’s control panel to confirm successful connection.

Install drivers if needed

  • After the printer is online, the HP App will automatically download and install the required drivers.
  • If you need direct access, you can download drivers from HP’s official support site:
    https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

These steps should help the printer forget the extender’s IP and reconnect to your main router. If the wireless light remains blinking after setup, please let me know the printer model so I can share model‑specific guidance.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
