@Fitgit, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Refer printer's User manual for printer specific steps.

1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

  • Turn off your printer.
  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer.
  • While holding the Wi-Fi button, turn the printer back on.
  • Keep holding the Wi-Fi button until the light blinks quickly, indicating that the network settings have been reset.

This clears any old Wi-Fi credentials, allowing you to reconfigure the printer for the new network.

2. Reconfigure Printer Wi-Fi Setup

  • Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer again (it should blink rapidly if it’s not already connected).
  • Use the printer’s control panel to reconnect it to your new Wi-Fi.

Alternatively, you can use the HP Smart app or the printer's web-based setup page (accessed via the printer's IP address) to connect the printer to Wi-Fi.

3. Check Your Router’s Compatibility

  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi network is using the 2.4 GHz frequency, as the printer may not be compatible with 5 GHz networks.
  • If your new router is dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), make sure the printer is connecting to the correct band.

Hi GARP

I have followed your instructions to delete the old network from my printer , I have done this more than 20 times but to no avail. I have printed out the wireless network configuration page and it shows the printer is still on the old network. It seems to be unable to delete that network. I have followed the deletion instructions with the new network on and also off - all to no avail.

Hey @Fitgit,

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know about the issue you're experiencing. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially after trying the network deletion steps multiple times.

It sounds like the printer is having trouble fully removing the old network settings. In this case, a good next step would be to perform a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all previous settings, including the old network, and allow you to set it up fresh with the new network.

You can refer to this guide to perform a factory reset on the printer: Restore factory defaults on your HP printer | HP® Support

Next, you can follow this guide to set up your printer on Wi-Fi: HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network) | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Dear Garp

i have followed your instructions to do a factory reset- turn on printer, open access door, hold Wi-Fi and power buttons for min’ of 3 seconds , shut access door after 20 seconds. This does not work.
I note that the machine turns itself off shortly after I let go of the wifi and power buttons.

is this correct ? Anxiously awaiting your reply, Arthur.
