Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I used my printer yesterday. Today the printer is offline and will not reconnect. I tried all the recommended solutions except for reinstalling the printer.

This has happened multiple times this year. Each time it was a painful and long process to reconnect printer. I am at the point to getting a non-HP printer. I am tired of dealing with this issue. I am tired of HP poor support. I cannot recommend an HP product.

It is going to sleep and Wi-Fi cannot wake it up. I have the same problem with a Canon photo printer. I have to physical push the online button to wake it up. See if you can prevent it from sleeping.

Click here to see an example of turning off sleep.

If there is no sleep option then try connecting to the router using an ethernet cable.

If the printer's status report indicates it is actually on-line but you cannot print to it that is a different problem:  The router gave it a different IP address and the one your PC has is old.   it is like someone changing their phone number but not give you  the new one.

The solution to this is to print directly to the printer using Wi-Fi direct.

The below is all know about your 8025.  Hope I am not oversharing.

Watch the reset video or perform the steps. After resetting, you generally have 2 hours to complete the setup. Decide if you want to connect the printer to the router or to print directly to the printer and bypass the router.

Many HP and other OEM printers have problems with the router when the router has two bands and both bands have the same name (SSID). Log into the modem and rename one of the bands. Alternately, contact your ISP and have them rename a band.

Or simply use Wi-Fi direct (but read note below about Instant Ink).

If English is not your native language or if you wish to get additional information not covered below, then use the HP and Microsoft support assistants. The latest HPSA supports 36 languages and can be downloaded here. Microsoft's AI assistant is in the latest Windows 10 and 11 releases and there are instructions here on how to enable the AI. Microsoft's AI assistant (Copilot) has a microphone button and supports natural language processing.

Do not call any phone numbers shown in any of the videos or revealed by a Bing or Google search. You may need to reset your printer.

Disconnecting the USB cable may still leave the printer in the wired or Wi-Fi mode. Connecting an ethernet cable may still leave the printer in Wi-Fi mode. The Wi-Fi reset is used to put Wi-Fi printers into setup mode. Some resets are simple and others require a video to understand. Factory resets cannot be revealed in this forum. To do a factory reset of your printer, you must contact HP.

Wi-Fi reset instructions and videos (if any) are shown below. Generally you have 2 hours to connect your printer after performing the Wi-Fi reset. Note that a reset video may show a slightly different model than yours. Do not call any phone numbers revealed in any video or site.

Microsoft's Copilot may have more recent videos.
Watch this video to see how to reset your printer: 8025.
The steps below are Wi-Fi only and do not perform a factory reset.
Microsoft's Copilot may provide alternate solutions.

80xx

  1. From the printer control panel, touch Setup.
  2. Touch Network Setup.
  3. Touch Restore Network Settings.
  4. Touch Yes

Wi-Fi connection

Ideally, your Wi-Fi printer should connect to the modem or router. If your network has multiple boosters / repeaters, it is possible the printer may connect randomly to any of the units. The router needs to provide the same IP address on every connection. This rarely happens with random connects. An alternate Wi-Fi connection is Wi-Fi direct. Your laptop or smartphone prints directly to the printer and does not go through the router. Note that if you signed up for instant ink or internet printing your printer must also be online through the router. Do not call any phone number revealed in any video or site.

This video shows how to connect to the router: 8025 8020 8028 8035 8010
Wi-Fi Direct can be used to avoid configuring the router. Watch this: 80xx
Wi-Fi Direct is explained on page 36 of the User Manual, this Wi-Fi setup avoids configuring the router.

Software

HP updates software periodically. Downloads shown below may be old. You should always visit the Software and Download page to look for new releases. You may need to select an operating system (OS) first. If windows 11 is missing then use 10. You can go as far back as Windows 7, 64bit to get missing drivers. After selecting the OS click the blue Open all button to view all downloads.

Full function printer drivers can be downloaded here: 802x 803x
You can find all of the software here. You should select the OS and then look for the phrase "Open All" and click that. 8025

Documents

All documents are available at the below HP site. The user and reference manuals show how to get status reports and analyze error indicators on printer that have no control panel.

All HP manuals are here: 8025

Support Videos - Parts - Disassembly

HP has a YouTube site and there are a number of video in English and other languages. Typically unboxing, clearing paper jams, and cartridge problems. You may also find instructional disassembly videos from other users.

Disassembly is shown in this video: 8025
Printer problems could be cleared by one or more of these HP YouTube videos 80XX

Printer Reference

One or more printer reference is listed below. Typically your printer may be part of a series and use the same software and manual. The exact spec may be different.

The printer is connected via Wi-Fi. Printer is sitting next to the computer and withing 2 feet of the router. The printer is next to the desktop computer, an HP computer. The printer is an 8020 model, not 8025.

The printer wakes up. Still no connection.

There were no changes to IP address or phone. The phone is not used with the printer.

I had to remove the printer from my computer and reinstall it. I used the drivers that are on my computer. After performing the installation, the printer is now online.

I have had this issue multiple times this year. The location of the printer and desktop has not changed. What I have notice is that the problem crops up when HP sends out a firmware update.

I resolved my printer issues buy uninstalling the printer from my computer then reinstalling it the printer.

I found your repair suggestions did not apply or too complicated for me to do. Wi-Fi is the only method I used to connect with printer.

The next time this happens, get a network report from the printer and compare the IP address assigned by the router to the previous IP address

if it is different, then your PC is holding the old IP address and will not be able to print anything even if the printer is actually online.  It is similar to someone changing their phone number and not giving you the new number.   I did not imply the printer used a phone line.

8020, 8025 etc are all 80xx series.  The differences can be the ink cartridge, paper handling, etc.   However, If you have "e" series then the printer needs to be online to contact the ink subscription service.

If this happens repeatedly (wrong IP address) then you should use the Wi-Fi direct function.

The last time I upgraded printer firmware, the printer stopped using cheap ink and I had to buy HP ink.  I no longer allow firmware upgrades.
