HP Officejet 8022
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My new Officejet 8022 will not connect to my wifi because the network shows on the printer as one with no encryption. The network however has a password and because the printer does not allow me to type the password, it cannot connect to the wifi. I saw the same problem solved here on the platform but the solution was sent privately to the one who first posted the problem by @Sandytechy20. I'll really appreciate it if the solution could be made public.

@GIS_Bill, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

What type of encryption does your router use? This printer supports WPA or WPA2 encryption methods.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network > Restore network settings

Now, try to connect the printer again to the network.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

If the issue persists, use wifi-direct to setup the printer as shown in this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
