I recently bought a new Netgear Nighthawk WiFi 7 and my HP Officejet 4635 reads the new WiFi but it won’t connect to it when I type in the password. I tried WPS but that doesn’t work either.

Hi @JRR10,

Could you please try connecting with 2.4 GHz only?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @JRR10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see you need help with the printer's wifi connectivity. May I know if the network is 2.4 Ghz?  May I know which printer are you using?
In the meantime, Please try this:

First,  Please uninstall the HP smart app.

Once done, Let's try a restore the printer to the original network settings.

To restore the printer to the original network settings

  • Disconnect the power cord from the router.
  •  Turn off the printer.
  •  Turn off the mobile device/PC.
  •  Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
  •  Turn on the printer.
  •  Turn on the mobile device/PC.

Run the setup wizard to get the printer connected to the new network.

  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel display to set up wireless communication.
  •  From the printer control panel, touch (Wireless).
  •  Touch ( Settings ).
  •   Touch Wireless Settings.
  •   Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
  •   Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Once done, Please reinstall the HP smart app, open the app, and click on add printer on top. Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to get your printer configured on the app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the advice Rachel. The router I have runs 2.4 ghz, 5ghz and 6ghz. The router has a smart connect that decides where each device should connect too. The printer I am using is the HP Officejet 4635.

You will likely need to set a unique SSID for the 2.4Ghz channel and only allow the printer to attach to that. The issue is that this printer does not support 5 or 6Ghz wifi but will show as connected to 5Ghz but will not actually communicate and they only sure way to ensure it works is restricting access to the 2.4Ghz.
